Which Duvet Warmth Level Suits You?

Are you someone who’s always cold—even when temperatures are high? Or do you kick off your duvet as quickly as possible, even when it’s freezing outside? Maybe you fall somewhere in between, which doesn’t make choosing a new duvet any easier. Yumeko is here to help. In this blog, you’ll discover what duvet warmth levels mean and which one suits you best—so you can make an informed choice. That’s the key to a great night’s sleep!

What Do Duvet Warmth Levels Mean?

A great question with a simple answer: the warmth level of a duvet indicates how warm it is. At Yumeko, we use the following classification:

  • Warmth class 1: a combination of classes 3 and 4, suitable for all seasons
  • Warmth class 2: a warm winter duvet, ideal for low temperatures
  • Warmth class 3: perfect for spring and autumn—not too warm, not too cool
  • Warmth class 4: the coolest duvet, ideal for hot summer nights

Below, you’ll find a more detailed explanation of each warmth class.

Warmth Class 1 – The Perfect Choice for Every Season

As mentioned above, a duvet with warmth class 1 is suitable for all seasons. That’s why it’s often called an all-season or 4-season duvet. It consists of a light and airy summer duvet (warmth class 4) combined with a warmer spring/autumn duvet (warmth class 3). Together, they create a wonderfully warm winter duvet. In other words—you’ll always be comfortable.

Our all-season duvets are available in various natural materials. For example, you can choose a down duvet in warmth class 1, or a plant-based TENCEL™ duvet. There’s always an option that suits you.

Warmth Class 2 – For the Coldest Winters

A duvet in warmth class 2 is best suited for low temperatures or for people who tend to feel cold easily. These winter duvets are wonderfully comfortable and filled with extra amounts of crisp, high-quality down—100% responsibly sourced.

As someone who easily gets cold, you can also use a warmth class 2 duvet in spring or autumn. However, for summer, this duvet will be too warm. In that case, a summer duvet (warmth class 4) is the better choice.

Warmth Class 3 – The Perfect Balance

Do you prefer a duvet that’s neither too warm nor too cool? Then choose warmth class 3. This type of duvet is ideal for spring and autumn and is filled with sustainable materials such as (eider)down or organic linen.

It’s perfect for the average bedroom temperature and climate. In fact, many people use a warmth class 3 duvet all year round—although during the hottest summer nights, you might prefer something lighter. Luckily, you’ll always find the right option at Yumeko.

Warmth Class 4 – For Those Warm Summer Nights

If you’re looking at a duvet in warmth class 4, you’re looking at a summer duvet. Our summer duvets are perfect for typical summer weather—warm, but not overly tropical, sometimes with a refreshing breeze or rain shower.

They’re ideal if you still want to sleep under a “real” duvet instead of just a sheet during warm nights. These duvets are light, airy, and comfortable—yet still warm enough for cooler summer evenings.

Is it truly tropical outside? Something that’s becoming more common… In that case, we recommend a light (linen) sheet instead.
